2 stories of Fruit from faithfulnessRemember last month when we shared about the Indian Rocks team doing an outreach in this community? We just got this note from Pastor Pablo and are rejoicing with him! "We thank the Lord, after almost 3 months of visiting and evangelizing in the community of Buena Vista Catarina, we were able to start, according to the will of the Lord, our first Sunday Bible school in the church plant of the Philadelphia Baptist Church. Thank the Lord for his love, his grace, and for the resources that he gives us to be able to proclaim his word and teach them to keep his commandments. What a blessing my brothers." It's such a blessing to see the growth in new church plants after the seeds have been sown. Please continue to pray for Pastor Pablo and others as they work together to reach Buena Vista with the gospel. Pastors Luis, Reynaldo, and Lester traveled to Honduras this week to continue teaching the Institute of Church Planters there. Here is the update we received: "4th ISI HONDURAS meeting. 22 Baptist church leaders received the Omega Manual Inductive Bible Study classes. Beautiful time shared and the coffee could not be missed." This is the fruit of nearly 2 decades of training and mentoring. These nicaraguan pastors are now effectively missionaries, taking their knowledge and experience to other men who desire to plant churches in Honduras. To God be the glory! - Please pray January 14-20 as we will be attending the ABWE Global Leadership Summit and GO Summit in Orlando. We look forward to these annual meetings where we connect with other leaders and continue our leadership development.
- January 22 we will return to Nicaragua. We are excited about all the Lord has in store this year.
HONDURAS TRIP UPDATE:
A small church started as a feeding center for children. Comedor Marie was built to provide physical food and now provides spiritual food as well. God has provided for the churches of the Buen Samaritano mission (Good Samaritan) to plant a number of churches in southern Honduras.
We are offering to partner with them in the training of church planters. It’s a blessing to meet like minded churches with a desire to reach surrounding rural communities with the gospel and plant new churches. Please pray as we have set a tentative ICP Honduras launch date of February 11-13, 2024!

So thankfulWe are so very thankful that we were able to spend Thanksgiving with our families in Florida for the first time in several years. It was such a gift to have everyone in one place! We also took a few days of vacation after thanksgiving to just be together and rest after a very full fall of ministry. We are thankful to be returning to Nicaragua in a few days and look forward to what the Lord has for the last few weeks of this year. |

giving thanks Day 3: Centro Abem celebration- 20 years of ministry
I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever;
With my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations.
Ps. 89:1

Ps. 89:1
This has to be one of the most special days we have had during our years in Nicaragua.
It was an amazing celebration of God's faithfulness. His faithfulness to his people, to the ministry of ABWE in Nicaragua, to our national partners, and his provision for all of it for over 20 years.
And one of the best parts...the UNITY among the abwe team, our national partners from 4 church associations and other ministries was palpable. Recounting how God has orchestrated all things, starting with hurricane Mitch and a vision for what a ministry center could do for the churches, to bring about over 100 church plants with pastors who love, support, and encourage one another was moving to say the least.
The purpose of the ABWE Ministry Center has always been to accelerate church planting. We give thanks for God's faithfulness and for the faithfulness of many who have prayed, given, and served alongside of us on short-term teams. Because of these things, its purpose is being accomplished in a variety of ways. It has not always been easy, but it has always been worth it. To God be the Glory.

Giving Thanks Day 2:
The photo team
Praise the Lord! Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever. Who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord?
Who can declare all His praise?
Ps. 106: 1-2

It began as a casual conversation in July at ABWE's missionary enrichment conference in Baltimore. We ran into Jeff Raymond who leads photo teams around the world with ABWE to help missionaries tell their stories through photos and videos.
We invited Jeff to bring a team to document the 20th Anniversary of ministry of Centro ABEM. We were thrilled when he confirmed that he would bring a team of 4 to document the ICP and some of its pastors as well as the anniversary. They were able to visit several church plants and cultural sites during their visit.
We are grateful for teammates, Jason and Beth Lang, who took 2 of the guys to visit pastors in Masaya while we took 2 others to Chinandega. They also visited church plants in Nagarote and a brand new plant in Los Brasiles.
We are also so thankful to have access to beautiful photos that will help tell the stories that are common to many of the church planters as well as photos of the celebration at Centro ABEM...but more about that tomorrow!

Each day this Thanksgiving week, we will be sharing a brief update and praises for the requests in our last update. We hope you will rejoice with us! Thank you for your prayers! The Lord has answered in wonderful ways.
GIVING THANKS DAY 1- The intern
Praise the Lord!
I will praise the Lord with my whole heart...
Ps.111:1a

From the moment she landed, we knew Isabel was going to be a blessing to us and our national partners. Having been born and raised as an mk in Spain, she spoke fluent spanish and had a heart to serve. We organized two days of soccer clinics for girls, one at Sendero de Luz in Ciudad Sandino and one at Vid Veradera in Nagarote.
Nicaraguans love soccer and their favorite team is either Barcelona or Real Madrid...Isabel is a Barcelona fan which gave her a way to connect with the girls immediately. She started by asking their names and which was their favorite team. She did fun drills with them and shared her testimony and challenge to walk with Christ during break for a snack. After the break, they played a soccer game.
It was so fun to watch her connect with the girls and interact and chat with them. It was also wonderful to watch the girls have fun together without the guys around!
We took her to the mud pits, where she made her own little bowl from the boiling mud, and alson introduced her to quesillos. She plugged right into the youth program where Bruce taught the lesson on Sunday morning at Nazaret and helped translate as we took a couple of the photo team out to Chinandega. She was a HUGE help to Laura prepping for the 20th anniversary celebration of ministry at Centro ABEM...but more about that later this week!
We have been so very blessed by the interns we've hosted over the years. If you or someone you know would like to intern with us in Nicaragua, we encourage you to apply with ABWE and select the INTERN track.

praises:
We are so thankful for the way the Lord blessed our time during the CCAM Regional Conference. Missionaries and guests from 5 countries met for several days of rest, training, spiritual encouragement, and enjoying and encouraging one another.
We are so grateful for those who came to encourage and challenge us as well as for those who came to invest into our MKs.
Pastor Steve McCoy challenged us from scripture and shared the Small Circle ministry with the men during our breakout sessions. His wife, Carrie, along with Yvonna McGhee shared with the women.
We praise the Lord for the way he used each part, from games to meals together, to encourage us and send us home rested and ready for the ministry he has for us.

Pastor Antonio Navarrete and his wife, Diana, missionaries to Mexico, stayed with us after the CCAM Conference. They each taught in the October session of the ICP. They were both such an encouragement to the pastors and wives who attended. We praise God for their ministry here this week.
